Crowley County is located in central Southeast Colorado. It is north of the Arkansas River in the Arkansas River Basin. There are many activities offered here such as water sports, fairs, and fiestas. Also, some of the best hunting, fishing, and wildlife watching in Colorado is here.
Lake Henry, Meredith Reservoir, Ordway Reservoir, and Olney Springs Reservoir all provide great places to swim, water ski, windsurf, and boat. There are also sites to camp, picnic, and fish. The Division of Wildlife stocks the lakes in Crowley County with large-mouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, yellow perch, rainbow trout, walleye, and hybrid wiper. These stocked lakes provide great fishing in Crowley County.
The many farmlands in Crowley County have attracted large and small game. Antelope and mule deer like the open grassland, while whitetail deer enjoy the dense areas near the Arkansas River. Lakes and cropland attract waterfowl such as Canadian and snow geese to the area. Ring-necked pheasant, doves, turkey, quail, and duck also provide good small game hunting.
Crowley County has many annual celebrations. Ordway celebrates Fiesta Day in June and Mini Fiesta Day in September. The town also hosts the Crowley County Fair. Activities such as a ranch rodeo, parade, pancake breakfast, and 4-H activities highlight this full week of fun.
